The Quick Integration function of DataChain is accessible from the presentation module HandleData Logo HandleData and from the module GenericsData Logo GenericsData

Rapid Integration menu

Objective

The Quick Integration function allows you to quickly integrate a file with separator by Drag&Drop (or choice in the tree structure of your directories) into the DataChain universe.

information The speed of integration may depend on the performance of your network and/or your Internet bandwidth but also on the size of your file. The size of your file is not a limit.

Access to the Quick Onboarding feature

Step 1 - Access the Quick Onboarding Popup

  • 1 Use the Quick Integration icon chart-line.svg located in the top banner of the screen Quick Integration.

Step 2 - Quick Onboarding Window

Presentation of the quick integration screen

1 File drop zone with separator.

2 File read settings area with separator.

information By default, the most frequently encountered parameters have been set.

3 Metadata assignment area.

information The user is not obliged to specify the label. The label will be assigned automatically after loading the file. In this case, the name of the file (without its extension) is positioned. The user can modify, if necessary, the label before carrying out the validation.

Checking the quality of the integration

4 Screen reset button Quick Integration. All entries made in the Quick Onboarding screen will be reset. Note that the file reference will also be reset.

5 Button for integrating the file into the DataChain environment.

Step 3 - Verification of the correct interpretation of the reading of the file

Quick integration performs file playback based on basic settings. It is important to check the correct interpretation by DataChain of the elements of the deposited file. Several things need to be checked.

  • The correct division of the columns by the separator defined in the parameters

  • The list of columns

  • The type of columns that was inferred when reading the file.

In the event of misinterpretation, the user can modify the following points in real time:

  • the basic parameters (for example changing the separator)

  • column types (example of a date interpreted as a character string)

  • the captions of the columns to modify.

information Note that type, label and date format changes can be made later. (at the level of the Business Entity which will be automatically generated)

Step 4 - Integrating the file into the DataChain environment

The Integrate button located at the level of the Banner of the dialog box carries out the integration of the file in the DataChain environment according to the specified parameters.

Attention At the end of the integration, it is proposed to create an DataBlock. Creating an DataBlock allows immediate use of the embedded data. It is recommended to answer Yes to this question.

information The integration of a file by this integrated method creates the creation of a repository based on my local connector and a Business Entity (+ an optional DataBlock) automatically

Once the DataBlock has been created, DataChain offers quick access to the DataBlock.
