TreeMap Graphics
-
General - TreeMap
The graph function of DataChain is accessible from the HandleData module.
The number of graphics that can be created is not limited.
This function is used to present data sources in the form of a graph of type . Several types of graphs are available.
TreeMap
Like the other components, the TreeMap can be integrated into Tableaux de Bords.
A Treemap, (box map or proportional map) is a data visualization method. It allows you to view the information hierarchically in a tree structure. The data is organized in levels (here 3 possible levels). Each level is represented by a rectangle whose size represents the corresponding quantity.
Creation of a TreeMap type graph
List of existing graphics
The creation of a TreeMap chart (like all operations on presentations) is performed from the HandleData module.
- Step 1
-
-
Access HandleData module
-
Choose, in the left menu HandleData, the option Graphic associated with the icon.
-
Metadata
- 2nd step
-
-
Click on the button
-
A screen allows you to choose the type of graph you want. To create a TreeMap type graphic, choose the icon
-
Each graph has a metadata panel. Entering a label is required.
-
Optional input areas allow for more description. An icon can thus be assigned to the metadata of a chart.
-
It is advisable to save the metadata as soon as you enter it. Use the button
located in the right part of the top banner of the screen.
Tab - Data Sources
- Step 3
-
-
At least one data source is required to create a chart. Use the btn-ajouter-source.svg[add a source] icon to access the list of available sources (cf DataBlocks documentation).
-
Proposed sources are related to current user’s rights
-
It is possible to integrate, on the fly, a file with a separator. To do this, use the Rapid Integration function via the icon
located in the top banner of the HandleData application.
-
Sources are powered by DataBlocks.
It is possible, at the level of each source, to carry out operations making it possible to adapt, for a presentation, the blocks of original data by clicking on the icon
Displays a succession of operations such as generation of formulas, filters, aggregations, sorting and modification of labels and types are available.
- Step 4
-
The list of available sources is presented in the form of a table. In the proposed list, choose one (or more) sources then double-click on the line or use the button
to assign the source to the graphic.
Refreshes the list of available sources
Validates source assignment.
It is necessary, before this operation, to choose a source by selecting arow in the sources table.
Return to the list of sources assigned to the graphic.
Unlike TimeLines or Maps, only one source can be affected
- Step 4 Bis (optional)
-
-
If necessary, the user can make changes to the chosen sources:
-
Added formulas creating new values
-
Generation of filters
-
Sorts
-
Aggregations
-
-
To do this, select one of the sources assigned to the current graph. Use the
icon located at the end of the line (or click on the source label). Make the necessary changes. Save the changes using the
button then the
icon to return to the list of sources for the current graph.

Presentation Settings TreeMap
-
Level 1: Column of the source containing the values of level 1
-
Level 2: Source column containing level 2 values (Optional)
-
Level 3: Source column containing level 3 values (Optional)
-
Value: column of the source containing the values used to calculate the proportion of areas of each segment.
-
Mode: Type of color representation.
-
Colors: Specifies the colors that will be applied to the TreeMap. Two colors must be specified:
-
Color assigned to start of gradient
-
Color assigned to the end of the gradient
-
-
Scale: Zone is used to enter a Hexadecimal color code sequence. Color codes must be separated by a comma. Allows you to define a color panel defining the gradient.
-
Interactive Enables (or Disables) the interactivity option. If the option is activated, then it is possible to drill between levels.
