General - Data Catalog

The Data Catalog function of DataChain can be accessed from the top menu once a project has been selected.

Access to Data Catalog

Summary

  • The number of items referenced in the Data Catalog is not limited

  • Items added to the Data Catalog are visible (Metadata) to all users, whether from a private or public project

  • Only DataBlocks can be added to the Data Catalog (Beta version)

  • Referencing an item to the Data Catalog can only be done by users who have the "Referencing to Data Catalog" global permission, either directly or via the user group to which they belong (from the Administration, Users or Groups menu)

Consult the elements referenced in the Data Catalog

Click on the icon Data Catalog icon in the top menu Access to Data Catalog

The list of referenced elements is displayed directly, by most recent modification date.

1 Search box

  • add a criterion in the area then press ENTER or click on "Add" The criterion is added to the search and the table is refreshed

  • click on "Start search" to update the table based on the criterion(s) added

  • click on "Delete all" to restart the search and delete all the criteria

The search is carried out on all the metadata of the elements (label, tags, description, license)

It is also possible to filter and search in each column of the table.

2 Displays the Graph view for this element

information Depending on the rights of the connected user, some elements are hidden.

3 Displays an extract of the element’s data. This option is only available for elements from public projects.

4 Allows you to send a message to the "Owners" of the element, ie all users with modification rights for the element.

5 On click, deletes all the criteria from the table

6 When clicking on the label, opens a popup displaying more detail on the element

Different options are available depending on the rights of the connected user, identical to those available from the list, plus the export function.

Refer an item to the Data Catalog

The referencing is done from the element page, by activating the Data Catalog option visible in the Metadata area. Save changes to make the item visible from the Data Catalog page.

Delete the referencing of an item in the Data Catalog

From the element page, click on the "Data Catalog" switch to deactivate referencing then click on the "Save" button. The deletion of the referencing is immediate.
