Using the Datachain Connector - Power BI
The Datachain connector makes it easy to import data from Datablocks into Power BI via exposure APIs, giving you the ability to analyse and visualise data more efficiently in PowerBi.
This tutorial guides you through the steps required to use the DataChain-Power BI connector, as well as troubleshooting common issues.

Connecting to Datachain from Power BI

Open Power BI Desktop

Click on "Get data" in the Home tab.

Search for Datachain in the list of data connectors.

Confirm the connection to a third-party service to stop getting this alert message

Enter the information for the Datachain instance

The Datachain access URL (Optional) The authentication link (to be entered only if the authentication link is different from that of datachain) * (Optional) Client ID: the default value is dc_front.

(Optional) Client ID: the default value is dc_front.

Click on OK
Authentication
It is strongly recommended to use only Basic authentication for scheduled reload tasks in PowerBi OnPremise (cloud or server) and Oauth authentication for the workstation.
Basic authentication method (Server)

Enter username and password

Click on Connect.

A navigation tree is displayed with the list of API exposures grouped by DataChain Project and a preview is available for each table

Select a table and create the report
Oauth authentication (workstation)
The Datachain connector offers a second OAuth2.0 authentication method

Select OAuth2.0.

Click on Connect. An authentication window opens. Proceed with authentication.

Click on Connect

A navigation tree is displayed with the list of APIs by Project and a preview for each table

Select a table then create the report
