General - Finding Values

The Search for value function of DataChain is accessible from the GenericsData module. Logo Generics Data

This function allows you to perform a search for values on all or part of the data seen by DataChain or stored in DataChain (such as persisted data and/or extractions generated at repositories).

  • Two search modes can be performed using the Search for values function.

Value Search Screen

  • Simple search

  • Advanced search

The simple search allows you to search for a group of letters (group of letters, word, part of a sentence…) specified in the 1 area on all the data present in the datablocks defined in the 2 zone.

  • 1 Search criteria input box In the simple mode, this zone is used to enter the group of letters which must be searched for in the data blocks.

  • 2 This area allows you to choose the data blocks (Business Entities and/or DataBlocks) that will be affected by the search. Click in the area to select the data blocks.
information Note: this area can be pre-entered. Indeed, a parameter at the level of Business Entities makes it possible to define the default presence of the Business Entity in the 2.

information Note: in this area, the green labels correspond to the data blocks from the DataBlocks and the labels in black color correspond to Business Entities.

Default Business Entity

  • 3 Results presentation area. The results are presented in the form of a table. Each row of the table contains the number of rows meeting the search criteria for each data block, the data block label and a magnifying glass icon 4. In the event of a positive response, clicking on the magnifying glass icon allows you to view the data returned by the search.

  • 5 The Empty area button is used to empty the area containing the Business Entities and the DataBlocks.

  • 6 Allows you to run the search according to the settings chosen.

The advanced search for values allows you to carry out a trivialized multi-criteria search. It is used to define a column type (Character string, Numeric or Date), then a criterion value associated with an operator (in line with the column type). This option allows you to define multiple criteria.

Advanced Search Screen

  • 1 Search criteria input area In advanced mode, the number of search criteria is multiple. Criteria can be organized into groups and subgroups, linked together by AND or OR.

  • 2 This area is used to delete set criteria, delete groups or add groups.
information Note: this area can be pre-entered. Indeed, a parameter at the level of DataBlocks makes it possible to define the default presence of the Entité Métier in the 2.

information Note: in this area the green labels correspond to the data blocks from DataBlocks and the labels from black color correspond to Business Entities

  • 3 Results presentation area. The results are presented in the form of a table. Each row of the table contains the number of rows meeting the search criteria for each data block, the data block label and a magnifying glass icon 4. If the answer is positive, clicking on the magnifying glass icon allows you to view the data.

  • 5 The Add a criterion link allows you to add a criterion in the multi-criteria definition area. Adding a criterion is done as follows:

    • Click on the link

    • Choose a column type (String, Numeric, Date)

    • Specify an operator
